I work around air bags nearly every day at work, and all you have to do is disconnect the battery, and wait one to five minutes before starting. That gives the air bag backup power time to drain.

thanks, i did disconnect the battery and took off the collum schroud and the two bolts holding the switch on. one of the connectors(the straight one) was all burned and melted. my question is, where can i get a new connector?? thanks

Isn't the burned and melted connector scary? I can't believe Ford doesn't do anything about it. Anyway, get one from Ford. They're not that expensive. You just crack off the old connector trying not to damage the pins. Then you just insert the pins into the new connector. You, of course, have to make sure you get the right wires in teh right holes. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif I replaced mine about a month ago.
