..if insurance is paying for his totalled car, he will not be able to retain the salvage. In other words, he doesnt get to keep the car(salvage) AND get paid for the cost of the car. His insurance co would be required to sell it to a salvage yard, who you may be able to buy it from....at least that is the way it works here in FL, or I would be the proud owner of a Shelby Cobra already!!!:D
later!

no offence but if you get the driveline don't waste it by putting it in a thunderbird. I say put it on a fox and have a nice reliable mid-low 11 second mustang. I think it was lidio that put an 03 cobra motor in a notch and ran 11.3's

well he said i would beable to buy everything...Second i thought about the fox. But its already been done...I love thunderbirds...and no one really suspects them to be fast...soooooo thats why i thought of the SVT Thunderbird...mawhahahah... and so on.

So I assume he's getting money from his insurance company? Is he paying/deducting money from the insurance company to keep the car? When I locked up my motor, my car was considered totaled, it was worth $2700, I kept the car and took $2100. If he can't work out some deal with the insurance company to keep the car but get less money for it then the insurance company gets the whole car.

that might be it...not sure...because he isn't getting 10k for it...he is only getting 6 or 7 for it and yes he is keeping it. BTW are there any aftermarket valve covers? He may part it out...i'm taking all the good stuff.

If you want to retain a totalled vehicle from the insurance company, you just have them deduct the salvage value from the settlement. Its usually very reasonable, in fact if they're paying off a claimant vehicle they almost give them away.

I'm with Chris, hell yes buy it if the price is right...you still didnt say how much....how do you know if it's a deal unless you know the price ..unless it's free,THEN you got a HELL of a deal.

Dark_5.0 01-22-2003 10:08 AM

He would be a fool not to part it out on ebay. The cobra engine goes for $6,000.00 on there.

1969 Stang 01-22-2003 04:58 PM

it depends what i get if i get the engine trans computer rear end and other parts along that line...2500 bucks...thats it....he is a friend of the family...and thats most parts...and the 3 rims that still are good. So i am going to love the svt thunderbird...i'll have pics in a while...i have to wait for like a month for some $$$ to pay him...so so time this year your going to see history...

tireburner163 01-22-2003 08:36 PM
