hood scoop?
 
Just curious...are the factory hood scoops on the newer Mustang GTs ('01 & '02s) actually functional? Do they work as a ram-air, or just for looks? What about the Cobras? Same as the GTs?

for looks...and even if you add the kit to make it functional (about $500) it doesnt add too much power...just extra noise...hehe...i think the car looks better with it there though and id like to make mine functional just because its there...but around 50mph the lip on it starts to bend cuz it wasnt created to be functional...thats why there are a couple ramair hoods out there....

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was for looks. And yeah, they do look great. A little flashback to the 'ol fastback style scoop...kind of. :D

That's why the Mach 1 is such a better retro-look. The Hood set-up is functional.
