Last Q for the Day: FBIK? Chep After Market

Ok... so limited income. One mod. What should it be?

I want the best HP for the dollar. Mustang GT 2002.

I'm thinking K&N FBIK. The guy at the speed shop told me this... but then again this is the guy that tried to sell me a procharger for $5.5k installed. Is he right? Any other suggestions?

Help,

Joe

Air filter will not give you best Hp boost for the buck, Exhaust work or Pullies would be best. Pullies you can do yourself. Gears would be nice, No Hp gain but great seat of your pants gain.

Any other idea out there?

Best first mod:
Gears... no question...

If you're absolutely bent on a horsepower mod, some pullies will give you a few horses...

Gears?

Yes, besause I'm new at this and not stupid:

First thing I think off when I hear "gear" is "3.55" is this correct?

On a side note I'm in MD -- Gaithersburgh/Rockville area -- and the only place I know of it Showtime Automitive (great place, but $80/hr labor) any reccomendations?

Thanks,

Joe

Try Heffner's in Glen Burnie. They did the gears and the pulleys on my car. Great work, and very cool people. If you're going to do gears though, go with 4.10s, unless you plan on some sort of forced induction in the near future. Gears won't give you any HP though...but they'll definitely feel like they did.
You could also do pulleys and timing adjuster. Those 2 mods are pretty much proven to give decent HP gains.

In case you havent heard it enough, Gears and or Pulleys. Gear ratio depends on how your gonna drive it, and future mods. Alot of people on this site will argue between 3.73's and 4.10's. Just remember, the taller the gear, the more gas your gonna use.

if you drive your car on a highway daily go with the 3.75. It is a good gear down low and still gives you ok highway mileage. The 4.1 are great, and would make you feel like you driving a car with tons more power than your stock gears. But you'll be sorry when your filling up the gas tank once every other day if you have any long distance runs to make.
