Cant decide on suspension for car

I want to build an all around car. Rides good on cruise nights, hooks good on the street if I wanna make a run, hooks good at track with a tire change. Was thinking about building a more of a well handling street car, doesnt have to be anything as wild as Drudis' car but just better than stock. On the other hand I think the 86 coupe with Fat and skinnie Convo Pros more set up for drag would just be cool as heck. And since I cant afford two toy's I need help in pieceing together a suspension that is functional and practical.
I already have a set of lakewood 90/10 fronts and 50/50 rears and a set of stock arms with poly bushings. Was thinking about boxing these instead of buying aftermarket, so im thinking more of the Drag route. I just want to make sure the ride isnt so sacrificed it isnt comfortable. I will be driving this to school some ( 40 minute trip) but I gotta drive it to school some and spank some ricers.

Any suggestions will be well considered. What springs? What rear sway bar for the drag route and what struts and shock for the handling option.

Thanks
Brad

You cant have both, a drag suspension and a sport handling suspension.
Pick ONE!

Bradley - you can kind of 'cheat' a little. For instance, if you don't really want a full-on drag suspension, go with a mild setup and then rely on a set of M/T ET Streets (or equivalent) to get you some solid 60' times at the track.

Just an idea, but as Darius said, you really can't have both. ;)

Mine will not corner with a 911 turbo, but it is not bad at all. The track, only a 1.55 so far. When someone new rides with me, they don't complain.

Well, talking to friends here. Many of which have drag/street cars, I've decided to go that route. Now I have some of the parts I conside important to do this, Lakewood 50/50 Shocks and 90/10 struts, v8 rear springs and 4 banger front springs, Need a good anti roll bar for the rear if I finally decide I cant fab my own (I thinkI can). Who has removed the front sway bar for street driving. This wont be a daily driver by anymeans but I dont want to make the car unsafe just by removing the front bar.

Thanks

I have my front sway bar removed and there is a little bit of a difference. It is not too drastic you just have to slow down a little when turning, and changing lanes at high speeds, above 90, get a little squirley. Other than that go for it. The front end definately picks up better. With the 4cyl springs and 90/10's you should get substantial weight transfer.

I set my suspension up like your for a day. I removed both sway bars and I have 4 cylinder springs. Every time I turned it felt like the rear end was gonna slide out from under me.

Since then I reinstalled the rear sway bar and it feels fine.

Your a brave man to drive on the street like that

I dont plan on removing the rear sway bar.. just the front.. Think it will be ok?

sway bar

If you are going to be driving the car on the street much...I wouldn't recommend it. Mine felt pretty unstable at highway speeds...especially if you have to turn quick or are going around a bend on the freeway (overpass) and you hit those little steal freeway connectors...whoa...hold on! I just remove mine when going to the track. Only takes a few minutes really.

Well I have poly bushings and severly welded torque boxes, boxed control arms, and I don't race corners. But I would surprise you all with how well this car handles. And I am light which may help not leaning into a turn so bad. I definitly can not run curves with yall but for a normal every day car mine is great.

Great without a front sway bar.. I guess I will jsut have to try it both ways and see how it drives.. we dont have to many on and off ramps here. onl;y two major highways that run near here and car wont be seeing much time on those roads at all.
