Side exhaust for 90 GT
I've seen the Bassani side exhaust system in the Year One catalog that would fit my 90 GT. I think the cat-back sells for around $650. Does anyone have this system installed? If so, how do you like it? Also, I live in NYC and was wondering if the sytem will pass emissions. Thanks.

I don't have the Bassani system because I didn't want to spend that much money. I have a side exhaust system on my 1990 LX 5.0 from Spintech Mufflers in California. There web address is www.spintechmufflers.com. The kit you want to order is #333SCS. The kit cost me $420 to get it shipped to Washington. It will cost a little more for shipping for you. It comes with mufflers, outet pipes, and stainless steel tips. The kit looks almost like the one on Eleanor in Gone in 60 seconds. Very good sound, very throaty, loader than Flowmaster 2 chambers when you are on the gas. Very mellow at idle.

You have pictures of it? Does it fit a GT?

This is what I found from spintech's site:
MUSTANG (ALL) 65-01 4.6-5.0 2-1/2 side exit kit(factory H-pipe) SX61000 $429.95 65-01 seems like a VERY wide range of applications, I wonder if it would fit the 87-93 body style. Since no other info was posted, I emailed spintech and when I receive more info, I will post it here. |
I don't have any pictures of it that I can email. They were very helpful and each kit is model year specific. Ask about the kit #333SCS. It is possible they changed the price but like I said it was only $399.99 plus shipping. The kit fits my LX just fine. There were no problem with installation. You might have to trim your ground effects to have the tips clear them. You can angle the outlet pipes up and down depending on how close to the bottom of the car you want them. Mine are really close to the bottome of the door. The pipe is about half an inch from the subframes. I am not using the tips. Hope this is helpful.

FYI, I made my own...
Dynomax 2.5" mufflers (dimentions 4.25"X9.75"X14" "U"-flow part#17676) and a custom side-exit exhaust done in T304 an T409 Stainless Steel. See photos here: http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/suspension |
Darius,
Very nice car. I wanted to do my side exhaust myself but could not find the mufflers. Spintech had them with a kit so I bought it that way. It is always better to do stuff yourself. Brent |
