351 in a 89LX...help!!!!!!

Nedds some help in installing a 351W. I had to purchase a 351 oil pan from PAW with a new pick up and I have dropped the engine in. How Do I wire up the ignition? I took the computer and harness out. Also what is the best way to use the in-tank fuel pump? Any other info on this swap would be appreciated.

what type of industion are you running carbed or efi ?

If carbed you can reroute the fuel lines and use the mechanical pump as a pusher.

AS for the ignition what year and type of distributor do you have?
Do you have the ignition moduale or dual points what do you have ?

I converted mine with a 351 truck distributor and it just pluuged into the harness but mines injected.

I have a 600cfm carb. I have the stock distributor and a stock 351 dist. I was hopeing to use the duraspark ignition if possible. I Have the complete harness from the 5.0. If I hooked up the fuel lines to a mechanical pump would it draw fuel from the tank even with the electric pump still in the tank?
Thanks!

That electric pump in the tank is going to give you WAY too much pressure. A mechanical unit will draw fuel from the tank.

You might be able to use the stock intank pump by installing an adjustable regulator on the fuel line before it goes into the carb. This will alow you to set the pressure and the excess will go back to the tank like the normal efi would.

for a complete how-to & wiring for the
Dura spark - you'll need a DS distrib
out of a 351.
