Do you know what happened exactly?

Daniel.

Never mind, I just read about it over on Yahoo. I can't believe that it broke up while reentering the atmosphere.

Daniel.

It's really gonna make my day rough. I hope they can find out what happened.

I've been watching the coverage for about 3 hours now...the video is horrific. You can see the shuttle re-entering then it breaks up into 4 or 5 pieces...It stunned me the first time I saw it. My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of the crew.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the astronauts. What a tragedy especially considering the landmark flight this was with the first Indian and first Israli astronauts onboard the shuttle.

Flashback...

Wow...this is incredible...I had no idea. My mom just called me completely freaked out!! I have not seen the news yet.
Im thinking back to when this happened back in the 80's and remembering what I was doing when it happened...I still remember whose hair I was cutting at that time...this is something you dont EVER expect to hear of twice in one lifetime..
Evidently alot of the big debris is in the Palestine/Nacadoches area...Ive been there a few times the past year or so. Its a few hours from us. Im about 10 minutes from NASA, I'm sure it is total Chaos over there....
Very sad, for those 7 Crew members and thier families....I will hope that they will do everything to find out exactly what happened to the Space Shuttle.
My prayers go out to the families of the 7 Crew members of Columbia.:( :( SAD SAD DAY.......

I really don't know what to say right now, other than I really hoped I never again had to feel that sinking feeling of dispair in the pit of my stomach as I did in January of 1986. Well, its back.

About 8 o'clock this morning my family was outside setting up a garage sale when we heard several sonic booms. I didn't know that Columbia was set to overfly us. My stepfather and I knew it was fairly wierd to hear sonic booms over populated areas.... especially several of them.

Now that I know what it was, I will be sitting here thinking for quite a while. Wondering why great people such as those we lost today sometimes have to pay a horrific price for the advancement of mankind.

My condolences go out to the families of the second set of seven fallen heroes. May God bless them all...
