Strange Idea??
 
Could there be a way to make an oil "primer" from a remote oil filter kit and a EFI fuel pump? I'm talking about something you could install permanently to use every time before you start your motor, to prevent dry start bearing damage, not just for start-up of a new motor. How could you set something like that up? I saw a kit in summit that does this but the $$ is waaaay too much. Thanks for any imput or ideas!

I don't think it would work, man. Those pumps are meant for fuel....who knows if they'd handle something as thick as oil? And gawd only knows what would happen if that thing overloaded and contaminated your oil somehow. I agree...that thing in Summit is cool...but not $400 worth of cool. Damn...what I couldn't do with an extra $400 without wasting it on that thing.

I've thought about that too. You'd have to get some kinda of pump that would handle cold oil (which will be very thick) But I think it would be a great thing to have especially if you live in a colder climate. You'd seriously have very little engine wear. If anyone figures out what kind of pump to use, be sure and post it.

Here is another possibilty use a accumaltor like Moroso or Mr.Gasket sells, they make different sizes. They are intended to push oil back into the engine if pressure drops. I've never done this but have consider it several times, Tee of the oil pressure adpator for the guage, run tubing to in the car shut of valve back then from the valve to the accumlator mount under the hood or where ever you want to mount it. If you get a one or two quart accumlator over fill engine by that much start engine it will pump the oil in the accumlator, After it is charged close valve and then you can open valve when you get ready to start car primeing the engine. I would imagine you could probably get a electic valve instead of manuel if ou wanted to get fancy or keep everything but the switch in the engine compartment.

I have a real easy way to get basically the same results. Splice a "kill" switch into your ignition system. Flip the switch, crank engine until oil pressure builds up, flip switch, and then start car.

Yeah, since I got married, mind reading has become an important skill to develop...lol.

Oh, and this method also serves as an anti theft device. Hide the switch under the dash.

if you use synthetic oil it would work for a while.
i have replaced many fuel filters that were so plugged up i could barly blow thru them but the car still ran i wouldn't think oil would be much thicker than that.
