Convertable owners LOOK HERE
Im just curious to know if any one knows if a convertable "boot", "bonnet" are stock equipment from the factory on a 95 GT. Im currently looking at one and had gotten one from carmax, which i gave back, and neither has the boot. is this optional or is it just missing? If anyone can point out some major places on the top to inspect before buying i would appreciate it. I will be looking at it again on saturday. the top looks brand new, its attached to the rear window like its supposed to be and everything works and is tight. Did i miss anything? thanks

Not sure what you meet by "boot"? You mean like the torneau cover that covers up the top when it is down?

The top boot is the piece of material that covers the folds of the top when its down. Makes it look all pretty is what it does. I didnt get one with my car though. They only cost 99 bucks, atleast they did when I got mine. I would think if its a 95 it would have been replaced if it looks like new. Mine tore where the top frame bends - I would think thats where they all would go bad first. Have you taken the car out for a test drive? I would listen to see if air is getting in.

Every late model mustang, 92-present convertible came with the top cover for the convertible top from the factory.

Yes i took the car for a drive. Im not used to a convert so im not sure what a normal sound is. I looked all over and didnt see any sealing problems. My only concern with the car is that the clutch seems to engage when the pedal is about 3/4 released my alittle less, i cant remember how my last mustangs clutch felt. i tried adjusting the clutch by pulling up on the clutch pedal but felt minimal difference. Its only got 53000 on the clock so if it is shoot the either someones been hotrodding or riding the clutch. The only mods to the car are a k&n airfilter and the airsilencers been removed so i doubt this was a kids car, heck the plug wires are even stock.

A high pedal could be normal. It all depends on the year.
The best way to adjust the factory clutch quadrant is to de-press the cluth pedal to the floor and then side step your foot so that the pedal snaps up. This will provide optimum adjustment. John/pizda |
Thanks Pzida, ill have to try that saturday when i look at the car again, and hopefully buy it. I think im going to try to get them down somemore since it doesnt have a convertable boot and tyr to BS them about the clutch.
