short-throw shifters

Can anyone recommend a good short-throw shifter? My '96 gt is all stock, but I am working on the exhaust and would like to get a quicker shift time for the strip..i have heard b&m has one, but so does hurst, but i don't want to drop a fortune for one...also, are they tought to install..i have heard you only need a socket wrench and some plain wrenches...please help...Paul

P.S. where are the ladies with their mustangs?
;)

The Steeda Tri-Ax has my vote. Spring loaded to 3rd gear for less missed shifts. I havent gotten mine yet, but I cant see it being too hard to install.

I have the TriAx, too. Shifts great. Easy to install.

here's another vote for the Steeda Tri-ax. I love mine, it shifts so much crisper now. Albeit I heard the Pro-5.0 shifters are great too.

As far as installation; not too difficult however you might have trouble with one of the bolts that holds the rubber boot in place. It is in a farely tight spot with a ratchet and not alot of range in movement with a wrench.
Anyt shifter you decide on should come with instructions and will be a great improvement over the factor one.

Get the Steeda shifter or the Pro 5.0. You'll love either one

I have the Pro 5.0 and the steeda, they are not to hard to install. It can be a pain with some of the bolts. As for which one is the best I would say they are about the same.

As for your PS, the ladies with the mustangs are in the Girls Can Too forum check it out.

Steeda Steeda Steeda. I have one and love it. One of my fav mods.

I got a pro 5.0. Its nice.

But I haven't missed 3rd in ages... ^_^

I wanna point out that if you are, in fact a noob to actual car work, it might take longer than expected. But I put mine in, whic took about an hour. But it feels nice.

I have a Kirban Kwik. I was short on money at the time and I HAD to have a shifter. I love it! If I were to buy another one it would probably be the Tri-Ax.

I'm not changing my recomendation from the tri-ax, so get one of those. Pick up the latest Hot Rod magazine, it has a 99+ shifter swap in it, as well as suspension and some other mods. They put a Hurst in a Bullitt. Man, that Hurst ball is trick, I might just get one of those and the bullitt boot for my car. I've got a soft spot for the old white hurst ball.

I too have the Tri-ax. Very nice. Make sure you set the shifter knob in the lowest position for the shortest shift.
