Engine Idle Problems Continue

After driving for a while, when I slow down, the engine idles up to avout 2500 rpm and stays there. The only thing I can do to bring it down is turn off the engine and re-start it, then it idles at the normal 1000 or so.

I have cleaned out the IAC module completely and then reset the computer as directed, but this did not solve the problem. What other causes am I not finding???

Please give me your advice. Thanks in advance.

Mike

do you have the idle air spacer yet?

at first i would think a vaccum leak but you said "after i drive for awhile" does that mean that it only happens when it warms up?

i had same problem

i had the same problem and after replacing the iac motor and cleaning my o2's which neither worked. i finally replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, reset ecu (disconnect battery) and that seemed to fix it. Again this is what fixed my problem and it may not even be the same, just my 2 cents. oh yea cleaned my filter too.

I had the same problem for awhile too. It was random but deeply disturbing. I replaced the IAC with one from AutoZone (didn't work), Napa (didn't work either) and finally bit the bullet and got one from the Ford Dealer. I should have done that earlier b/c that DID solve the problem.
