99 suspension is squirley

Well, its been 2yrs since I have had a Stang, and I couldn't take it much longer, so purchased Stang #4 finally. This time a 99GT. And I am glad to be back here. I hate Saturn 100hp pieces of crap. lol.

Anyhow the suspension to the car I just bought is pretty rough. It was an ebay auction, and actually got a great deal on the car, so I figured if it needs X, no biggy cause I did good on price.

Here is the deal. It seems as if when you step on the gas, it wants to shift to the right. If you hit a bump the tail end gets squirley. There is a tad bit of shakeyness when you let go of the wheel. Not too bad, but a bit.

Anyhow I am not looking for a drag setup, just one that will keep the car from feeling like it wants to switch lanes cause of the suspension. I have NO idea where to start. My 95GT was so much smoother, and it was all stock. But I guess that 72k can do that to a 99GT.

So where do I start fellas? I was thinking lowering springs, but I am not sure if that will help the twist I feel in the car. Budget would be about $500.

There is a post a few down from yours -- "Suspension Ungrade". I think it will answer some of your questions.

I'm not a 1/4 mile guy, but I don't imagine you want to lower your suspension for drag set up.
I would think you want to go softer with front anti-sway removed and quad shocks removed and all that....

As for the squirelly feeling on the car, I'm sure others can help you there, but my way of getting rid of that is not good for 1/4mile strip.

Good luck,
