Major Life Desicions...

Well, maybe not that big of a life decision I guess.

Since I'm moving down to the US in a couple weeks and the prices of parts are way cheaper than here in Canada (even with the exchange). I'm thinking about putting some money in my car.

After reading a MM&FF 5.0 Tech article I've been thinking about buying (And I'm leaning to Edelbrock, but Holley and GT40 parts are still an option) new Heads, intake, 65mm TB, cam (similar to E303), TB adapter, New Timing chain and Rockers, 3.73s and long tube headers. (Boy that sounds like a lot considering I should still add a new MAF and 24lb injectors with a better fuel pump).

Anyway grabing some prices from Summit and the like it's going to cost between $2500 and $3000 for all that. And I should be able to hit mid 13's with that combo I hope.

I've been thinking why not just buy the 3.73's and get a Vortech S-trim. I know that it would probably run me $3500 to $4000, but would I see better performance? I could always start to add the TB, intake, etc. after, right?

Which way should I lean? My car has 60,000 miles on it, would that be any concern for a Vortech?

Which path do I take???

eithier way is fine and will do the job. i like the heads, intake, etc...then you can add a blower later if u want, and youll really scream then.

I'd go with the heads, intake, cam, etc. before the blower. It's cheaper and with the right combo you'll be making just as much hp as you would with the blower on the stock motor. Then later add the blower. Either way for sure get the gears.

For example: Holley Systemax II $1,995;; Blower: about $3,000

Thanks guys, that's 2 for going NA right now. I was getting sold on the idea of a KB blower from that current thread on Blower selection. But I guess you're right. Besides it's going to be hard enough to talk to the finance commitee (wife) about the money for the Head, intake, etc.

What's the take on the Edelbrock's Performer power package compared to Holly's SysteMax?

Hook up and you will run 12's with your heads/cam/intake.
