exhaust and nitrous
I am looking at getting a fox body GT and I had a few questions. On a GT if I was to get a cat back exhaust the tips wouldn't be visible would they? I was also considering nitrous. What is the biggest shot the engine can handle safely stock. What are some inexpensive upgrades to increase this. I am sorry if these questions are asked alot and I did try the search but I didn't find any answers. Thanks in advance.

Without upgrading y0our fuel system, about a 125 shot will be the most you are gonna want to throw at it. For every 50hp shot, you timing should be retarded 2 degrees. You also need to run colder spark plugs, and high octane gas.
As far as exhaust, its all in what you want, you can get dumps, where the pipes are not visible, or you can get pipes that are visible for the GT. - John |
What are some brands that you can see the pipes, or would it be a custom exhaust I would have to do. Sorry for the dumb questions and thanks in advance.

I have mac stuff on my car, alot of people will say its junk, but I dont have any bad things to say about it. Borla is a top of the line brand, but its rather pricey.

Due to the rear valance on the GT the exhaust tips arent visable because they turn down right behind the valance... you COULD have pipes that drop lower and go straight back, but you're going to deal with ground clearance problems, and it might look wierd... I've seen two things you can do with the exhaust... I've seen people actualy cut HOLES in the valance and run the exhaust through there... and you can trim it off with a nice strainless grommet or something... or you can get a COBRA rear valance.. it's sllightly different shape then the GT and it has provisions for exhaust.

Yeah I too have seen people cutting holes and crap, I think thats pretty tacky though. One guy down here has the pipes that are lowered, and come out the back. He oesnt appear to have any ground clearance issues, and it looks pretty killer too.

I suppose it wouldnt be an issue with "driving around" ground clearance... but it makes the rear of the car lower then it is normaly... and you might be prone to scrapes when you back into parking spots and stuff like that... but other then HOLES in the valance, it seems like the only other way, you'd probabaly need to go to amuffler shop and have them custom made, I dont think I've seen ay "off the shelf" setups that do that...
