Anyone with 15x10 w/ 5.5 back spacing??
 

I really want to run 10 inch wheels on my car.. due to budget constraints I cant afford new and have been searching for used for quite some time. I have heard that running 10's in the back requires a wheel with 6.5" of backspacing. What has to be done to run a 5.5" b.s.'ed wheel on a fox body? I can find these wheels all day long.. and sometimes real cheap. .If I can do some hammer work and some sawzall work I will.

Becuase I dont ever want to worrie about hookin it on D.R.'s And if I swap to the big block later. I know what a big block on 8 inch rims and D.R.'s will do SPIN, and I dont wanna spin

I don't think that you will have enough clearance on a 10" wheel with 5.5" back space.

I have and do have friends w/ 8 inch rims with 4.5 backspacing. So they have 3. 5 inch outward. With 28" tall tires and the fenders clearance on the outside they still will rub from time to time.

So... Your gonna have 4.5 inches of rim sticking out of the fender. Its gonna eat your tires and look bad.....

Mine understanding is that most people prefer to use the 6.5 backspacing and then add a 1/4 inch spacer to set it back out a bit.

I personally have a 9 1/4 inch rim w/ a 6" backspacing. Works perfect with the 275/50-15 Drag Radial........

Brad, It's going to depend on how high your car is sitting. The 5.5's will work if your car is sitting up high, it just wont look very good. I had my rearend narrowed 2.5 inches so I could use the 5.5's. I bought them for the same reason you are wanting them. :D The price I got the 5.5's for justified spending $150 to get the housing cut. I cut the axles myself in the chop saw.

My bro had some 10 inchers on the back of his '82 mustang he had in high school and it looked just no other words to describe it other then UGLY. Reminded me of a 4x4 truck.

Hooking a car up is not only in the tire,it's suspension set-up as well

Hey man got any pics of that car? What brand wheels do you have that are 9.25 inches wide? I may end up getting a set of 15x8's and running them. They are definantly cheaper. .Then I could spend more on the rest of the suspension to make it hook on the 8 inch rims and tires...

I'm running the Bogart D-10's on a 86 Gt....

They custom build these wheels to your needs. They are pricey however, you can buy a complete set of Weld wheels for what I paid for just the rear set. I decided to go with the 6" backspacing so I wouldn't have to do any fender/inner fender beating. This all worked out really well. The 275/50-15 fit great now. Havent tried the 275/60-15 yet, but I don't think I will have problems with them either.
