BBK Headers on TFS Heads.. Problem?
I bought a set of BBK ceremic headers off ebay... though BOTH headers dont quite line up with the twisted wedge heads i have... the first two tubes lines up fine but the lext two are shifted over about 1/4 inch... just enough I cant get my bolts in...
So I guess I wanted to know if anyone else had this problem, is it a BBK thing, I could seel these off i'm sure and maybe pick up a set of long tubes but am I going to have the same problem... I wanted to avoid banging them over cause the ceramic isnt very flexable and would probabaly chip off. I could probably reem out the hole but it's getting awful close to the tube.. looks liek they had been elongated before.. cause I know headers never just bolt right up -as |
Are these headers new or used? Do they have and individual port flange or one piece? If they are used individual flange headers, chances are they have warped from the heat. I had this happen on my old MAC headers before.

My BBK 1 5/8 inch equal length headers were perfect so I dont think its a BBK thing.

they are USED BBK Unequal Shorties with seperate flanges
Im not sure how to handle it, you know? ... I dont wanna messe up the coating, though they arent pristine anyway... I dont think I could bend them by hand.... I might have to install them and then work them with a prybar -as |
I had a set of used headers I installed and they had been warped too. I only really had one flange that wouldn't line up though. It took us forever to get the bolt in, but we eventually did with the help a prybar.

I fear that there is a pry bar in my future... might just save myself the hastle and get longtubes while I'm at it.

I've got BBK equal length shorties and TFS TW heads.
For the most part they lined up except for the final flang. I just used a long open ended wrench as a pry bar to get the header to line up. No biggie. I may have scratched a little of the ceramic coating off but it was anything big. E |
