Radiator Help!
I need to buy a new radiator for my car, I do like the Griffin 31 X 19 but you have to modify your fan shorud to run it and I dont want to. My local autozone wants $169.99 for a 3-row replacement Has anyone heard of Afco Radiators? I saw they have an aluminum replacement for $210? And the FMS is around $250 and up. What should I do?

I put a new radiator in my 90 GT last month. I got it from
http://www.radiatorbarn.com I picked up a 3 row radiator, its $145, which includes shipping. It arrived very quickly and was packaged well. I recommend using Havoline DexCool (orange) antifreeze. Lasts longer, but more importantly, cools better and eliminates "hot spots". It has the same ingredient as some antifreeze additives have, such as Water Wetter by Redline, making additives obsolete. So IMO, its well worth the extra cash. |
Radiator
I used the 27x19" Griffin from Summit for $189. It works great. Fit perfectly.

My Fluidyne fits perfectly with no mods, fan shourd would fit, but I have an electric fan, don't know if the Fluidyne was an option for you but it fits and cools excellent. ~Brian

Thanks guys!
For the 2 with the Griffin, How did you mount the fan shroud, did you have to make any modifications for the shroud to bolt up? I am still using the stock fan and shroud. From what I see in pics it looks like the griffin is 3" wide and then it seems like the fan shroud would be right next to the pullies? Am I right? Would the 27 X 19 fit better? Shedding more light on the griffin would be great! |
Griffin
I have an electric fan on mine(27x19"), but I was told that the stock shroud will fit fine. The size that I have is the equivalent to the stock size only thicker. The only difference being that the Griffin cools like it is going out of style.

My Griffin fit with no modifications to the fan shroud necessary. The only 'mod' I had to do was bend out the top brackets a little so that they would hold the beefy radiator in place. No biggie at all.
Yes, the fan is closer to the radiator than the stock one was, but it's no where close to rubbing. Same with the pulleys. My Griffin was for 87-93 Mustangs, not sure of the size, but it has worked great. :) E |
