Any gains with AFR 165's ????
With my sig below would I see and gain by going to a set of AFR 165's and an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. The Widsor Jr's I have are unported and the GT-40 intake I have has a ported lower. Just wondering before I go spend money on something that wont give me any more HP or tourque. The 12.63 @ 109 run I had was my best ever. It was VERY cold. I usually run in the 12.8x @ 107. I think I might gain some but not much. What do you guys think??

What are the specs on your cam?
IMO the upgrade will be well worth it, and selling your existing parts should recover close to half of the money you will spend on the new parts. The AFR165 and Eddy RPM is an absolute killer combo. There are numerous guys with it and a hefty cam that are well into the 11's on the motor alone! |
The cam I have is a Lunati 51014. Specs are----
218, 226 @ .050 duration 284, 292 advertised duration .500, .510 lift 112 LSA A little small but my pistons are not flycut. I think if i went any more on lift there would be problems with the pistons saying hello to the valves. :) |
nah, the stock reliefs are good up to around .540-.550 lift. Just gotta check PTV clearance to make absolute sure.

Im thinking about going to an "F" cam if I do change the heads and intake. I know theres alot more cams out there but im gonna keep it simple. The "F" cam has got a chit load more duration than the Lunati I have now. Plus the lift is about the same on both cams. So hopefully there would be no piston meeting valves and at the same time I should get alot more top end HP. I think this Lunati cam is actually holding me back. Its a good cam but I personally think I need more cam.
