Richmond pinion gear snapps in half
It happened a few weeks ago and i just got the car back.
I gunned it from a stop to get in front of a car and exit onto the freeway. Never made it there... It was just a loud thud in the rear end and then no more gears. I took it to xtreme mustang performance. That was the first chance I had to take a look at it. Like I mentioned before, the pinion gear had snapped in half just below the head of the pinion(410 gear). When it shot off, it punched a hole the size of a fist in the diff cover and busted the axle housing too. Looks like maybe a defective pinion gear. I mean this type of thing isnt normal. So i ended up with a rear end out of a 96 saleen and new fms 355 gears, and a 1500.00 bill. New flowmasters on the way too. :D |
Oh no! Does no one care about this!!! This was really a tramatic experience for me! I need comforting. Ill go cry now...

I am not one for kicking a man while he is down, but you should buy some tools. $1500 is crazy. You could have bought a "BUILT" rear for that much cash. Glad to see you back on the road, and what is the semper fi on your sig mean?

Semper Fi is somewhat of a motto in the Marine corps, its short for semper fidelis which means always faithfulin latin. |
a brand new rear end with any gear you want goes for $700-800, you mean they charged you $700-800 just for labor?! On a rear end? What's it take to drop a rear and put one back 20 minutes? Damn!

rearend
Damn. $1500 is frickin nuts! I'm sure you don't want to hear it, but I bought my complete rearend used w/ an Auburn posi unit & 3.73 gears for $450. How come you have no where to park or work on your car? Are you on base? A dorm? Apartment with no parking? I know what you mean though I live in an apartment complex. Luckily I have access to a garage loaded with all the tools I would ever need to use whenever I need it. :)
