Questions about some performance stuff
 

i was wondering what does a stall converter do exactly? Also, I have a pretty much bone stock gt (95) with a cruddy AODE, I was wondering if I should switch it to a five speed (tremec) or buy a better automatic? what gears should I use?

right now it's a daily driver and it probably will be for a good while.
i do run down the track every now and then a always have street races and run autocross 3x's a year.

Your taking about a Torque Converter. Think of it as a rubberband. The motor will spin faster (winding up the rubberband) and the torque converter will multiply the force to the tranny (leting go of the rubberband). This helps you get rolling from a dead stop. When your talking about a stall, that is the RPM that the torque converter will start applying force to the tranny. The stock mustangs have about a 800 stall. So at 800RPM's, the motor will give the tranny the power. If you had an 3000 stall, the car won't get it's power until the motor reaches 3000RPM. The car will still move just a little bit, but won't launch hard. My friend has a drag car that makes over 900HP at the wheels and he is running a 2500 stall. Keep this in mind, if you get a 3000 stall and your crusing down the freeway at 2000 RPM's, your tranny will get very HOT because it's "slipping".

you also will have to choose a lockup or non-lockup, lockup prevents that slippage and improves efficiency. Depends on what our doing :)

Stock convertors
 

Stock convertors will stall about 1800 RPM. Where you want your convertor to stall will depend on the torque curve of your engine.
