would i benefit from long tubes?
 

Right now i have equal length 1 5/8 shorties on my car. Would it be worth the money and the pass in the ***** install to put long tubes on my car with my setup (in my sig)? I mean if im going to see a noticable gain on the quarter or on the dyno then i'll do it but if its going to minimal then its not really worth it right now. If it could mean 2-3 tenths im all for it but i doubt it will.

honestly....cant really tell...but id do it anyway....it will most likely help your times...sure wont hurt...and it will give it a better sound...IMO..when i install mine LT's it was a pain..but not as bad as some made it out to be

I had 1 5/8 shortys on mine. Went to 1 5/8 MAC longtubes and noticed a gain in HP and Tourque across the whole RPM range. And also they are really not that bad to install. Took me about an hour and a half. The hardest part was pulling the steering linkage off and grinding it down so the header wouldnt hit it. Id say PUT EM ON !!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the gain is worth the extra $$$ of the swap IMO. But if I was gonna do a swap like that I would be buying ceramic coated headers and them alone will cost around $400 not to mention a H/X pipe. So you talking in the $$450-$600 range to make the swap for about 5-10HP maybe 15:confused: and probably about the same torque. Not only that, you may have to unbolt the headers or atleast one when you if need to pull the trans. I know we had to on a friends car with a T-5 and BBK long tubes. Now I could see if you were an all out drag racer and needed every bit of power and torque, then it might be worth the extra to be competetive. But this is might $.02 on the subject.

For your car, I don't really think it'll be worth it. In fact, it may do worse (I've heard of this happening b4). Probably the only real way is to get the car dynoed with shorties, then dyno again with long tubes.:( Long tubes are not needed (in MOST) cases until you got major air flow through your motor. Long tubes are usually reserved for and give the best hp/torque increase when with blower motors or high compression motors that are running ~350+ horses. I've learned that bigger is not always better (eg, jumping to a 4.10 gear instead of 3.73s, b/c it sounds bigger, doesn't always work out that way). There are a number of variables you have to take into account. Hey, i'm not saying it WON'T work, what I'm saying is that if it doesn't hurt your hp/torque #s, it'll only help a tad, probably not enough compared to the $$, time and labor.
