Magnaflow
I am just curious. what does everybody think about magnaflow exhaust. i am thinking about getting it for my 2001 gt. i have mac on it right now with a steeda hi-flow x pipe. just trying to get different opinions.
thanks, frank |
You can't get much better than "Wide Open" in my book.
|
this is prob a dumb question but just making sure. they are street legal also right and is it worth the money??
|
They are worth the money over the stock mufflers for sure. If you've changed them once, I'd think hard about doing it again.
I'm pretty sure they're street legal, since you can get a muffler shop to weld them in. Its the x-pipe you should be worried about. Is that catted? |
magnaflow gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.......i'd be happy to put a magnaflow exhaust on my 72 SBC chevy or my turbo volkswagen (if they made larger than a 2.25" for the dub).........
if i had a mustang, i'm sure that i'd be happy to put a magnaflow on it |
the only reason i wanna change it is because the chrome tips of what i got now is starting to chip. i know it is dumb reason but i think it is ugly. i am thinking about either flows or magnaflows.
|
magnaflows over flows any day. And get stainless steel, not chrome.
|
I have Magnaflows on my '00 and I love them. Fairly quiet with a nice deep tone when you're just cruising, and they sound wicked when you get on it. It definitely is worth is to get stainless rather than an aluminized system like MAC or Flowmaster.
|
I just bought one for the SHO yesterday. Does that count?:D
I got their race welds mufflers 3In. on my car. It sounds different than the flowmaster setup, but in my opnion, it is too loud(than again, I do have 3in. exhaust.) |
I've installed two ('93 Cobra & 87 GT w/ Cobra rear valance) Magnaflow after-converter systems to date, both of which were the LX style systems with the 3" stainless tips and mufflers. The rest of the system is aluminized steel 2.5" mandrel bent tubing.... regardless, they are very nice systems with a great sound! I ran a pair of stainless, 2.5" Magnaflows w/ turn downs on my car for awhile and loved the sound they produced!
Their mufflers are essentially the same as the stainless Dynomax Ultra Flo mufflers that I first ran on my car, back in the day (one of the first mods I did to my car actually). The only obvious difference being that the Dynomax muffs have the rolled seams vs. the higher quality welded seams. Some of you are thinking "what about the Ultra Flo welded mufflers", but they have a thicker, wider case and offer a slightly different exhaust note over the other two muffs mentioned, and they are only available in an aluminized config. Anyhow.... It's my opinion that Magnaflow makes a quality product, with a much preferred sound compared to the notorious (that was once pretty cool) sound of the Flowmaster, that 9 out of 10 Mustangs have anyhow, lol :p If you are considering a Magnaflow system, I say GO FOR IT!! :) |
Which ones are you guys talking about, the Magnaflow universal or race series? Also, how do they compare to the Dynomax welded race mufflers (not the bullets, the ones that look similar to flowmasters)?
|
right now i have MAC exhaust on my car right with a steeda hi-flow x-pipe (with cats). i am looking at the magnapack mufflers from magnaflow. my g/f also has a 2001 gt and has flows on it and an MAC off road h-pipe and that thing sounds mean. i want mine louder then hers, lol.
