Problems with my vortech

I just installed a S trim in my mustang and my car now runs like crap. I also installed a Jacobs boost control. I got the supercharger used. The guy I bought it from said he was running about 15 lbs of boost with this set up. It also came with an Anderson power pipe. I think it might be a fuel problem. The car seems to idle fine but doesnt want to accelerate. Im going to order a new pulley set up(6-8lbs) because 15 lbs is too much for my 10.1 comp. I just want to get it running decent and Ill fine tune it when i get my new pulleys. The blower seems to be running fine itself. Need some ideas were to start. Do I need to adjust my fuel pressure regulator? Please help..

ok these areas are not to be overlooked when you are tuning your blown monster http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

1)Make sure you have your plugs at least one heat range cooler and have them gapped at .30-.35

2)What is your fuel pressure at idle?Get a fuel pressure gauge. You need to know this because going lean can lead to detonation.

3)Timing-- what is your timing set at?

Start off by getting bigger injectors the car will run much better. Take the timming down to about 8 degrees at idle. But more than likely it is not enough fuel. Try a set of Autolite 3923's or a set of NGK r5671a-7 plugs.

I didnt re-gap my plugs, they're at 42-45 I believe. I need to get a fuel pressure gauge to see were thats at. I set my initial timing at about 10 degrees. Would the plug gap make that big of a difference? My car runs horrible, no power at all. I havent taken it over 2500 rpm yet. It would take a lot to even get it there the way its running. Like I said before it seems to idle great, it doesnt seem to be missing. Thanks for the tips, i'll try those few things out and see were that puts me.

You need to close the gap up then. The reason why it's necessary is so the forced air entering into the cylinders won't blow the spark out. Also install one heat range cooler plugs as well while your doin this step.Your plugs should have a slight brown tint to them when you check them later on.If they come out white,it means the motor is running lean.

Fuel pressure should be around 40 psi,but it should go up to around 70-75 under full boost. These are just some baseline numbers for fuel pressure.

Do you have an FMU? If not your fuel system is WAY too small. You need 36lb injectors minimum, and a TREX inline pump. You have 10 degree initial timing and how much boost retard? How is your car running like crap describe...
How much boost are you seeing, is your maf ok?
