stangheads- help guess est. power-help
Ok Gurus, take a stab at my est. F.W. HP
Stock 88 shortblock (no over bore), I ported lower stock intake, I ported e7's, pretty big on ext.,gasket match int.,milled .035. (first attempted at porting:eek:), pullies, 1 1/2" unequals, cold air intake, 65mm T.B., 1.7 RR, offroad h-pipe, no smog, blocked off egr in intake and back of heads, speed density. Getting ready to reassemble, what do you guys think? |
Probably 240-250 at the wheels. You may have some problems with part throttle pinging-detonation w/out egr. I blocked it off and have a little pinging depending on weather(hot).
|
Couldn't that be solved by backing off a little timing?
Did you block off the supply in the intake? |
You are at most making 250 at the flywheeel with the stock upper intake.
Trust me. |
I blocked the egr off at the intake(lower) and also plugged the heads. Yes, you can lower the timing, but may still slightly ping at part throttle, I've never had a problem at wot. The computer adds a lot of advance at part throttle due to the fact of egr lowering combustion temos. If I had to do it over again i woauld probablly have left the egr alone. Only real advantageis a slightly cooler intake and I guess runner cleanliness over a long period.
I think you can surpass 250 hp w/ the stock upper. I dynoed a little over 230 rwhp with a stock intake, upper and lower, and stock headers. 230rwhp is around 260-265 fwhp. |
should i unblock the passage in the intake and leave the egr functional?

I guess there is only one way to find out but 250 RWHP is real optimistic. |
