some new best times

new combo consists of ported GT40P heads, ported explorer intake, B303 retarded 4deg, MAC longtubes, 4cyl springs, lakewood 70/30's... blah blah blah

First day of the season was today, and it wasn't too great of a day for racing. The temp was good, but there was a significant headwind.(I've raced in similar conditions and was 0.4seconds off of my best on that day)

Best NA was a 12.76@105 on a 1.69 60ft
I know with a little more hook, more aggressive driving and no head wind, it should go 12.50's

The last run I decided to throw the bottle at it. Had it on the floor of a truck with the heat on it to warm it some, but still couldnt get the pressure above 700psi (i know i need a bottle heater)

With the 100hp jets, and only 700psi, it was probably only giving 80hp.
I've attached a picture of the timeslip (right lane), needless to say I was VERY excited to receive it:) even though it only hooked to a 1.74 60ft

125shot with 950-1000psi, new slicks, and no head wind should be a blast next time out:D

Whats your guesses on what I can get outta it later this season?

gofastmercury 03-23-2003 12:52 AM

Those are some great times, I have jet to run in the 11's and can't wait. I'd guess some 11.60's?? with a good 60, I thinkyou might get in there.

11.60's was my goal I set from the beginning with this combo and 125shot. I think it will do it when the conditions are right, and I get my new slicks on there.

Just about to pick up an anderson N4 cam too, so that won't hurt:)

Your going pretty good there with gt-40's! hey fivohpatrol, i see you said your cam is retarded 4 degrees, im putting in an e-cam in a few day, do you recommend i reatrd it? i've heard retarding 2 degrees is worth a gain, with my mods, what do you think?
thanx, anyone that replies.....

Retarding in general will move your power up in the RPM range.

The reason I retarded mine was because I have heard from numerous sources that there are 5degrees of advance built into the B303 cam. I don't think you'll really see any gain with retarding the E cam, I think it was meant to install "straight up". But then again, I have been wrong on many occasions:)

I just purchased an anderson N4 cam today, so hopefully that will help out some.

anyone wanna buy a B303 ?:D
