Rear siderfin/full quarter glass swap???
I have an 86 GT with the siderfins, I can get a set of quarter glass off an early 90's GT and I want to switch. How do I get the glass off the other GT without breaking it, and are there new weatherstrip/trim pieces available? I saw new trim pieces (i think) on Steeda's site. Are they covers or new pieces, and how is the glass actually held in place, is it glued? I just need to know how to remove/install the glass, and being I'm probably gonna paint my car this year I want to make sure the trim will look new. Any onfo is appreciated.

i'm no glass expert, but i think if you get a guitar string, or a small flexible wire, push it over the rubber weather strip & go all the way around, then get a suction cup, it should come out, hey i could be wrong. ;) :D :D :D :D

Well I thought it wsa Steeda that had the trim pieces, but I couldn't find them on their site. Anyone know of any companies who make a new quarterglass weatherstrip?

Check out Texas Mustang Parts

Actually Marty ya are wrong. And there are no new weather stripings made for fox body car rear quater windows. The Steeda Products are just covers not new weatherstirpping. And you can cut the glass out of the weather stripping but it wont do you any good. There are several ( 10 or so ) bolts made onto the back of the glass that you must remove the interior side panel to get access to. You will have to drill a few holes in the metal of your 86 but dont worry they will all be hidden. You will have to take the interior panel out of the 90 and remove the nuts that hold the window in. Then do the same for your 86.. mark where the new holes on your 86 will go ( the 90 model window have a few more bolts to hold them on ) and drill the new holes. Install the 90 window and nuts and then install the interior panel back.. But thats not the hard part.. you must also have 87+ style upper door moldings ( that piece that's on the body of the car above the door ) and 87+ style mirrors for all the trim to match up. Its an easy swap if you have all the parts.. And makes for a real good looking car., I hate siderfins but love 4 eyed cars.. i.e. my 86 notch im builing now will have 87+ door trim and rear quater windows.. Need anything else let me know

I did do the search myself before posting the link - they definitely have them at Texas Mustang. Looks like they have all the exterior trim and weatherstripping for Fox's except for the trim that goes on the sides of the car from bumper cover to bumper cover. Anyone know where to get that? I'm going to paint my Pace Car soon and it just doesn't look right without it because that shape is built into the bumper covers.
