New CHP 342 stroker - powerband???
Old setup: junkyard 302, Y303 heads, Cobra intake, S-trim, Lunati 51014 cam, Art Carr AOD. This went 10.80 @ 128 in a 93 hatch shifting at 6200.
New setup: CHP 342 stroker, 8.5:1 compression, stock TW heads, RPM intake, new T-trim 2.95"/7.00" pullies, Lunati 51025 cam, same tranny. Any idea what to expect as far as change in powerband for the new combo? Because of the greater torque, should I lower my shift point to get the most efficient results? Motor is seeing 12psi of boost at 6000 rpm, I haven't run it higher. I'm headed off the the track this weekend for my first test & tune with the new setup. Any info or experience would be appreciated. p.s. car stalls to 4200 on the 'brake with a 9" converter. I run 27" X true 10" wide DOT Hoosier QT pros and 3:73 rear gears. Thanks!!! best run with new combo from last Saturday - 1.67 60' 660' - 7.xx (ain't got the slip with me) e.t. - 11.48 mph - 117 This is really bad. Wife says the car left like a marshmallow. We only saw 12psi of boost at 6400 rpm. With the old motor, we'd see 6400 through the traps; didn't get that with the new combo. I had the timing up as high as 32-34 degrees total advance and it still maintained a max temp of 1450 in #7 cylinder. My thoughts - 8.5:1 compression is really killing the power Boost is way too low, prolly because of new setup and more efficient air flow Converter needs to be re-stalled to new c.i. Any thoughts out there? |
