Bolts for engine to engine stand??
just got my new shortblock yesturday and need to know what size bolts i need to bolt it to my engine stand its a 351 block..also..the bolts used to bolt the engine to stand are for what?? bellhouseing?
|
I used Grade 8 5/8" bolts to hold up my block. I also used large washers to put between the stand and the block itself. Yes, the bolts that you use to bolt up to the stand are the same as the ones to bolt up the bell houseing.

i asked on the corral and someone said they were 1/2 -20 what ever that means...

All I know is I used 5/8" bolts.... keep in mind my block is a 302 block.... I have been told that the bell housing for a 302 and a 351 are the same....not sure is that is true, but that's what I was told...

My 302 is on the stand using my old ARP head bolts for my 302. They are the right thread, and only needed a washer to work (length). My brother's 429 is held on his stand the same way with head bolts. If you have an old set, try them.

I hope you mean the head took a 5/8th's wrench. A 5/8" bolt is huge! I think it should take 3/8" (usually a 9/16" wrench)or 7/16" (usually a 5/8" wrench) bolts. 1/2 inch-20 (1/2 inch bolt with 20 threads per inch) sounds a little big to me. |
got 7/16 bolts....got engine on stand now...YES im maken progress LOL i have it on the stand :p
