rear end question

When it is cold out and I first drive the car I get a slight squeeling noise from the rear of the car. After I drive about 200 feet it goes away and does not return unless the car sets for several hours. I noticed today that if I slightly turn the steering wheel in either direction that I get some mild vibration from the rear of the car, kinda like when driving on a concrete bridge. If you turn hard it goes away, just feel it when the weight starts to shift. Does this sound like an axle bearing going bad or a bad pinion bearing?

mustangdaren,
If your bearing are shot at the axles or the pinion, eventually the seals are going to leak and you'll know it!

I think your problem might be (internally) with the differential.

You can take it to a shop that specializes in rear-ends and they'll do an oil change (which usually includes a visual inspection of the rear-end) for about $45.

It has a fairly new Auburn HD diff installed about a year ago. Probably has 3500 miles on it. I will probably change the oil in it this weekend to check for gear wear.

mustangdaren,
Did you use friction modifier?

If you don't, you will get weird noises and vibrations!
