95 GTS or Conv.??

I want a 1995 GT Mustang, but a convitable would be cool. Why do most people buy hardtops than droptops... what are the problems. And what does GT and GTS means, and is there a GTS Conv??

I love my '95 GT vert http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif. The convertible mustang is such a fun car to drive so I would say get the convertible. Maybe the reason why most people buy hardtops is because they dont think the extra couple grand is worth the convertible, but also it's a fact that hardtops weight some 200lbs. less than the verts. for racing. Racers would proabably prefer hardtops over verts because it's roof would stiffen the chassis and you wouldnt have to worry about killing yourself if you flipped. All things to consider. But I say, buy a '95 (last of the 5.0s) GT vert and slap a rollbar in that thing and your set to race!

Drop-tops are fun in the warm months but they are loud on the highway and very cold in the winter. Depending on your location you also have to worry that converts are a lot easier to steel and you dont feel right leaving it even with the top up. Plus you'll have higher insurance premiums. Dont get me wrong though, I have a 84 convert and I like it better than my 2000 hardtop.

I think the GTS came out in 1996? It was kind of a option deleted car from my understanding. Nothing special.

According to my serial number my 95 GT is supposed to be a "GTS". I've always wondered what the h!ll that ment? I've got most of the options except leather and sunroof.

Oh, and convertables are cool. If I bought another car for just sunday cruising, I would buy a convertable. Otherwise I'd get a coupe.

If you decide to get a convertible, I suggest you install full-length sub-frame connectors and a strut tower brace. Makes a HUGE difference.

Headers, cat-back, Bilstein shocks & struts, springs, pulleys, K&N filter, full-length sub-frame, strut tower brace, 3.73s. Aren't these cars great?
