just bought a proform elec. fan how would you set it up???
My mods are in my sig for the 90 lx. would you set it up manually with a switch or not. it is going to my mechanic in a couple days. also, do you think i will have to change out the alternator with a 94/95 gt one, or will it be ok? I actually have stock pulleys in it which should help a little! thanks

I connected mine so when the car is on, the fan is on. I don't like when the fan turns on and off while I'm driving... it bothers me. It makes me feel like stuff is breaking/not working...:(

how is the noise with them? Is it annoyingly loud or you can't hear it? i bought the proform which i was told was the same as the other model!

They are a little louder then the stock fan but not annoying. I can only hear it (if I try to listen for it) when I'm idleing and with the windows down.

We put a lighted manual rocker switch on ours. We've found the car cranks a little slower during starting when the fan is pulling off the battery same time starter is.
Got ours setup when the temp gets higher than 180 the fan comes on. We have a BlackMagic fan and it's worked out really nice so far. Got a Fluidyne radiator as our stock one was tired and this combo of Fluidyne/BlackMagic keeps our stang cool. |
Wire it with the supplied thermostat, if you have it running all the time it is no gain since now your alternator is running always under a load which takes more horsepower to rotate. The other thing is with a good radiator your fan will probably never cycle when moving and if you do keep the fan running your car could possibly never come out of the rich/cold/start program when it is under 75 or so degrees outside.
I have such a big radiator with a 180 degree thrmostat my car was staying in rich mode even on a 85 degree day. I changed to a 192 thermostat and my fuel mileage increased 3 mpg you would be doing the same thing if you run the fan all the time, plus what is the life hours of that fan you could have the thing used up within a year and I am sure the manufacture did not make the fan motor to have 100% cycle with out a cool down. |
Mustang_289: I wired my fan into the fuse box, that way it turns off when the key is in the start position. I also hooked it up to be thermistically triggered and love that setup. ~Brian
