No power to the fuel pump?
 

I just finished hiding all of my wires inside of the fenderwell on my 89. Everything has power except the fuel pump. It worked perfectly before so I disrupted the circuit to the pump somehow. The brown wire that supplies power to the pump is getting 12V at the starter solenoid. I have not followed the wire back to the back of the car to test for juice. I did unplug the box in the trunk where the reset switch is and it showed no power there. Is there a ground wire that I am missing? What wires around the solenoid are responsible for the operation of the fuel pump?

There are two Black with Light Green striped wires that I am unsure about. I think that they come together and are supposed to go to a ground. Anybody know? I am out of ideas here.

I'm going to throw this out there.... did you check the fuses?

If you reconnected all the wires back to the starter solenoid, then you should have a working fuel pump... I would reconnect the inersia switch that is in your truck (if you haven't done so) and push the little red button back in. Try this and hopefully your fuel pump with do it's job. :D

What fuses? I pulled the fuse box cover under the steering wheel and it does not show a fuse for the fuel pump. Which one are you talking about?

I re-connected it and reset the box (wasn't upset anyways) right after I tested for power back there. :(

The only thing I can think of is you accidently missed a small wire when you were trying to hide them. I guess you hid them too well :p Look around and see if you can find one... Off the top of my head, I don't remember the color.

There is a fuel pump relay, (I think) under the drivers seat (inside the car.)

I doubt it's bad if it worked before; but it's worth checking out!

I replaced the fuel pump on my '89 Mustang and decided to replace the relay just for good measure!

See the thread "A/C Problem" for a color wiring diagram of the fuel pump power circuit. Power comes from the starter relay through a fuse link, through the EEC Power relay (in kick panel with computer) through the fuel pump relay (under driver's seat in 87-92 cars) through the inertia switch to the pump.

I just realized that you are helping me on the other website as well? You are probably saying "man didn't I already answer this already"?:D I always post in several places so that I can get as much help as possible. Thanks for all the help.

Is there a way to run power to the pump temporarily so that I can get it home (3 miles) and be able to work on it in my own driveway? It is at a friends house and we are having to push it around each time they need to get a car in or out.

I can't seem to find this thread. Is it in another forum or website?

I just said fuse cause sometimes people dont check the obvious things first... though in this case there may not be a fuse for this circuit... I suppose you could just run a switched power line to the fuel pump to get your going... anything that is on with the key...

And yes you can run temporary power to the pump to get it home.
