Will heads destroy hi mileage engine?

My car is almost stock 95 GT with 140K on it. Will adding a set of aftermarket heads/cam/intake/tb (like the Edelbrock package) be a bad idea? Basically, if I do this, am I going to have to tear down my engine because it busts shortly after modification? I need the car to be reliable.

Thanks

well thats like flipping a coin. I think it all depends on how hard you turn it and how often you Turn it.. I had a 87 with 120,000 miles I added a cam and 150 shot its still going.. I sold the car now that motor has outlasted 2 car bodies hahahaha...

If the engine has been well maintained, I would go for the mods. It is not uncommon to see a car with 120-150K come in for and upper end rebuild and keep going for many more hard miles. Biggest drawback is lack of forged pistons.

I've asked that quesiton before and most will say it'll be fine, some will say it's a crap shoot... I just swapped my heads, inktake and cam this weekend on my 100K engine... I'll let you know what happens ... though I imagine if it does cause premature wear it'll take some time... I figured if I only get 20K more miles, it's not that bad... it's an excuse to rebuilkd the engine with better components... the heads and intake will be reused anyway.. so the investment is safe
