need help with a 94 GT

I have a 94 GT, its stock except for Cobra R wheels and K&N filter. I am wanting to know if it is possible to get 300hp at the rear wheels with out any forced air induction. I would like it to be price effective and keep reliability. I would appreciate any suggestions you guys may have. I am new to this and dont know where to start.

Thanks, Eric Johnson

Sure there is..
Trick Flow Heads----about 1200
High Flowing Intake-about 500
Underdrive Pulleys--about 90
70mm Throttle Body--about 200
Mass Air------------about 150
Cold Air Induction--about 200

Its not to cheap but seems to me like this would get you there or damn close to it..but then u will need subframes..some sort of traction device
And some good tires.

I'm getting about 375 without Forced Air. It's called Nitrous. Best bang for your buck by far and you can buy a new kit and install it in your car for less than $1000. Something to think about. Of course if you meant no power adder than look at the above post.

andy669 06-07-2001 02:35 PM

You didnt mention what transmission you had. If its an AOD-E, add a good rebuild, ($950) stall convertor, ($800) and a custom burned chip ($250) If its a five speed you'll still need the chip. The 94-95 computers are terrible! Believe me, I've been there/done that, and probably wont do it again. I wish I would have just bought a new cobra, it would have been cheaper!

Thanks guys, I did mean that I wanted to avoid using a power adder like NOS. Based on your input here is what I've come up with. Let me know what you think:

Trick Flow twisted wedge heads: 1000
Trick Flow manifold: 400
BBK underdrive pulleys: 90
BBK 70mm throttle body: 200
Vortech 73mm MAF: 210
BBK 1-5/8" Full Length Headers: 400
MAC 3" H-pipe: 260
Mac 3" cat back exhaust: 350

Will this get me 300hp and will this set-up work well?

Again thanks for the help!!

Its a 5-speed tranny.

All that sounds good to me..You might want to invest in a new shifter..I know Pro5.0 makes some good ones..they are like 200 i think..You can find cheaper ones

Smokedawg, do you think this will get close to 300hp mark? Also I forgot to add that I have the Steeda short throw shifter on order already.
thanks for your help!

what one will have to do is add these mods up realistically..How much HP do u have now..i have no idea how much the 94's come with stock..prob about 215..i would say your big power boost here is going to be the heads..prob 40-55hp..Intake will just compliment the heads..probably good for about 10 hp maybe?? then the underdrive pulleys are SUPPOST to add like 10-15..You sound like you are headed in the right direction for the exhaust..That will really benefit your setup. The TB is suppost to add like 8-10hp or something and maf is around like 8-15 i think..cold air is prob good for bout 10..Another good thing is if you got a bit of cash left over...GET A CAM...expecially if you can have one custom made for your setup..I think you should get 300hp no problem...Good Luck

Hey guys,
I know that I didn't start this post but I have a '95 GT and this is some great information. I love the info I get from this site.

I just have one more question for you guys. I should have enough money to do the stuff listed above this summer but I do have plans to supercharge it eventually. Will all these mods be ok when I decide to so it or are there some things I shouldn't do for that application.
Thanks alot
Scott

I know you get two kits:

1) Ford's GT-40 package for SN-95 5.0's, puts HP around 290, more if you include cold-air and long tubes and pulleys (I'd say 305-310)

2) Edelbrock package gives 350 HP with heads, intake, cam, and this package is sold thru summitracing.

I hope this helps..

Any idea what the Edelbrock package costs? There is a great article in the 5.0 Tech Mag (from the MM&FF editors) where they put the Edelbrock package on a 94GT with 3.73's, headers and pullies and they pulled a 13.5 on street tires.

They never included the cost though.

I don't have prices handy for the edelbrock, and I can't seem to find it at summitracing.com

give them a shout, 1-800-517-1035..

They also have a Holly System (don't know how good it is) w/ heads, cam, intake, rods, timing chain for $2100 US, it also gives 350 HP... (page 246 of their sales mag)

hope this helps

Here is a link to a review of the Holley Systemax II kit that Alternative Auto did. This is a 4 year old article so Hollley could have made some changes to the kit since then. If anyone has a newer review of this kit please post it. I'm interested in the kit for my car.

Thanks for all the help. I think I am on the right track. I am also going to lower the car with springs, change out the shocks/struts, add adjustable rear sway bar, caster/camber plates and Heavy Duty Upper Rear control arms. I currently have 17x9" Cobra R wheels with 275/40 Yokahama a520 rubber all the way around. After all the engine and suspension work is done I plan on adding a saleen s281 spoiler and a new paint job and few other minor details like white face guages and so forth. Thanks again for all the input and I will keep you guys posted of my progress.

Thanks, Eric Johnson
