weight saving

Does anyone know about how much an 84 LX hatch 4 cylinder car with a 351W stripped down to nothing but engine, front seats, a steering wheel and a tach would weigh? I'm talking nothing on this car, everything that can come off, has been taken off except for the engine with only an alternator and water pump on it, a battery, a fuel cell (no tank anymore), weld draglites, an 8.8 inch rear with drums, and a T5. I'm hoping that it will be somewhere below 3000 but I'm not sure if that is unrealistic or not. Do you guys know what these cars weigh from the factory with a 5.0? Thanks.

You'll be way under 3000lbs.

You'll be a good chunk under 3000 #'s. My car tips in at 3010 with A/C, P/S, both bumpers, stereo, etc.

Dang, 2400? That's nuts. Seriously, I've got the interior stripped down to metal everywhere. No dash, no carpet, i even ripped the rubber sound deadening material up. I'm thinking of getting a fiberglass hatch and hood also. Pulled the plastic wheel wells, pulled all of the wiring harness and have just run wires to the tail lights and headlights. I want to get a tubular K member also. No sway bars, etc. So if I could get it down to like 2700 that would be awesome! Does anyone else have a car this light? Thanks Shaggy!

My '79 Pace Car was only 29xx lbs bone stock with the 302/C4.
