Hanging idle

Since a took the motor out, put all new gaskets in, got heads ported and polished and back together, the car does not want to come down to a good idle. I have adjusted the tps, adjusted fp, reset computer, checked for codes and came up o2 sensor lean bank 1 and 2. It is not running lean, it is running rich, the o2's says lean which makes the computer make the car run rich. I have spent numorous hours searching for vacuum leaks and cant find any. The last time i adjusted fp, when i took off the vacuum line for the regulator, some gas piddle out. Should this be happenig? The idle comes down to about 1600, than runs down to 1200 and than down to the proper idle. I have adjusted timing, tried "clocking" the maf w/ no luck. When the motor is cold it comes down to idle w/o a problem. I dont know what to do. Any comments/suggestions are thankful. Sorry so long, but kinda needed to let everyone know what i have tried already.

Seems like you have a bad FP regulator. Gas should NOT be coming out of the vacum port.

Replace your FPR and that will probably cure your problem. If the intake is sucking gas from the regulator (since its coming out of the vacuum port), then it is also probably the source of the vacuum leak.

I would also guess if you're sucking fuel into the intake through that FPR that would cause you to run rich as well... though i can imagine it's sucking in THAT much fuel... who knows..

Thanks for the replies, i just ordered a new aeromotive fpr so i will see if that helps.

New fpr in, idles like a dream, when it cold. As soon as it warms up, idle get messed up ans is doing what it used to. What should i look at now?

what fuel pressure are u running at?

35 w/vacuum line off
ive tried different places without much luck

this is just a guess, but do you have Flowtech full length headers and H-Pipe?

bottlebaby91 05-01-2003 06:19 PM

bbk full length and h pipe

93GTDIN 05-01-2003 08:11 PM

I dont know how the BBK's are set up, but if the 02 sensor is only on one runner, it needs to be moved down to the collector ala a muffler shop.

I could look into that, but the thing that is confusing is that the motor ran just fine before it came out, and now it just has an idle problem.

any help, anyone???
