so it allways reads full? or Empty? well in eithercase, I would check the sender.... when I bought my car, my fuel guage didnt work. It didnt move... I pulled the tank and found that half the sender was GONE? where'd it go? turned out I had a baffle break loose in the tank and it took out the sender... so I got a new tank and a new sender and it's fine ever since. It's not likely that that is your problem.. but maybe your sender is shot, they can go bad

Been there done that with our stang, I would go for the sender first - drop the tank clean all the contacts - and if that doesn't work replace the sending unit in the tank. While you've got the tank dropped might want to drop in a 190 or so fuel pump.

yeah, i brought it to a mechanic at first cause I was too busy to mess with it...... he said it was the gauge in the dash.. and was trying it find a used one.. after not finding one (or not really looking) for like a week i said, forget it.. and then i dropped my tank and found the sender was toast... I dunno how he concluded that it was the gauge in the dash, perhaps because there's an ANTI SLOSH mechanism... so the gauge wont bounce from empty to full when you get full ground...it will slowly get there... so if you ground the contacts in the sender.. it'll eventualy get to full but not instantly... so dont get worried if it doesnt seem to move right away... so there ya have it... check the tank... it's a ***** job... and try to make sure the tank is close to empty before you drop it... you'll wish you had if you dont

I second that comment "make sure the tank is close to empty" - first time we dropped the tank it was over half full - pretty heavy.
