bbk cold air intake hitting shock tower...
 

My bbk cold air intake is hitting the shock tower and giving me an annoying vibration. Ive also had problems with the pass side equal length shorty header hitting also. I just bought bbk longtubes which im hoping will fix that problem but im not sure what the best thing to do about the air intake was. Ive tried loosening all the clamps and making it hug the engine as much as possible but i cant free up enough clearance. Has anyone had this problem...what did u do about it??? I really hate this vibration!!!

I dont have this problem.. but you could get a piece of window insulation or something... foam with an adheasive... and stick it between them.. shoudl keep it from rattling... it might not be the PRETTIEST way to go ... but sometimes that rattling can drive one nuts

Though now that I think about it.. maybe your motor mounts are wasted... maybe a new set of those will make you engine site better and pull it away

Mine rests against it also, but I dont have any vibe noise coming from it. It eventually knocked down the corner where it rests to a dent. I am not concerned with the dent though because it is covered by the cold air tube. I would suggest the same thein, try a piece of weather stripping. You can get it at the hardware store for next to nothing. I put some under the edge of my spoiler, it rattled due to the stereo, and I haven't heard another sound out of it yet.

I had the same problem as well.

Take out the piece of tubing that goes from your mass air meter to your throttle body. The side that goes to the throttle body, cut about 1/2" to 2/3" off of that side, and put it back together.

I have longtubes, but I really don't see how that would effect anything at all. They have nothing to do with each other, fitment wise.

That solved my problem.

From what I have heard, in some cases the BBK kit has to be cut in order to fit properly. I believe you have to cut the part that connects into the TB to keep it away from the shock tower. Also if your using the bracket that comes with the kit to mount the MAF meter, I would get rid of it. I'm not too fond of the way if makes everything sit.

Thanks for the help...ill try cutting some off...i had thought of doing that but wanted some opinions before i screwed it up.

As for the long tubes....what i was saying is now i have equal length shorties and the pass side hits the shock tower. The bbk longtubes i bought I believe will give me more clearance between the header and the shock tower because it looks like they hug the engine tighter. Is this true??? Right now my shorty almost touches without the engine even running and it definately hits around 3-3500 just crusing.
