You mean the engine bay brace? It stiffens the front of the car! :)

Nice wheels buddy!

Thanks.. so.. does that make it go faster or somthing? :o please excuse my ignorance..

Crazy Horse GT 05-02-2003 10:06 PM

it stops the front end from flexing left to right, up & down, twisting in other words. :) :D :D :D

Ah and that helps during racing.

I dont race so I'm still learning about all the racing gear n things. :)

It's never good if your car is twisting and flexing during any type of driving.

Its also called a strut tower brace. I have one and the "seat of the pants feel" made the car seem quicker. There is another brace that goes under the car similar to the one under the hood (cant remeber what its called) This brace made a big difference in handling. I recommend both of them and of course sub frame connectors. "If aint tight, it aint right". LOL

These stangs flex a lot and this is stealing horsepower. Tightening up the frame gets the horsepower to the wheels instead of flexing the frame.

Strut tower braces are about $100. (and up). Same for sub-frame connectors. Good investment as they not only aid in race situations but give the car a better 'feel' every time you drive it by tightening up the body.

Hammer I'm sorry for hijacking your thread

Not bad.. are they hard to install?

MidNiteBlu 5.0 05-03-2003 05:40 PM

Im gonna get the full subframe connectors, strut tower brace and k member brace packaage from Maximum Motorsports in the near future :D

Sicy - The stru tower brace shouldnt be hard to install. Its basically just a bolt on. Sub frame connectors are best welded on.

cool

Mote carlo bar

And don't forget the "Monte Carlo bar". It goes side to side between the shock towers. I know, mine is old hat, but it gives the idea,

Were you able to recover much of what you put into the other car when you sold it?

In total I got about 16k for the Yellowjacket, which is a pretty big loss, but that's pretty much par for the course in our hobby unless you own a 60s\70s muscle car.

Right now I'm ramping up to get started on the 83 coupe restoration. This baby will be from the ground up...

Skyman 05-04-2003 10:30 PM

You say in total, so did you part it out some of it?
