Engine bay dimensions
Could anyone tell me what the dimensions are in the engine bay of a 1967 mustang hardtop? Or atleast a webpage that knows.
which dimensions?
All dimensions under the hood...length, width, and height. Because I want to find out now if it will fit a certain kind of engine. I would find out myself, but I don't have the car with me, it's in Kentucky sitting in my grandparents lot and wont be able to get it down here untill mid June.
what are you trying to get to fit, a big block chevy? the only ford engines that WONT fit are the 427 SOHC and boss 429... :-)
Actually it's not even a piston engine, what I want to put in it is a 20B rotary engine, but i'm not sure if it will even fit. If it will, then im set. I got the idea from my cousin who is in love with Mazda Rx7's. I was shopping for one of those, but found out my grandparents had my dad's old 67' stang still sitting on their lot and that I could have it if I wanted. Of course I took it :p and im going to restore it this summer.
arent most mazda's front wheel drive? I think you're going to run into more problems than it's worth...
Not real sure if they're front wheel drive or not, but would it even matter if I just put the engine in it. But i've seen a 99' (i think it was 99') camaro with a 20B in it with twin turbos and had around 650+ hp. Anyway I was just wondering.....
well, if it's front wheel drive.. what are you going to use for a transmission?
and I bet everything was custom made on the camaro.. anything can be done if you have the money.. the engine will fit.. but good luck figuring out a tranny and how you're going too hook an alternator etc to it.. |
I'll find a way, even if I have to put a mazda trans in it :p ? But i will find a way ;)
yeah, but if the engine is mounted sidways... it will have to be front wheel drive.. and the mounts will be int front and back.. and not on the side.. so then you need to move the radiator..:D
Well, I'm sure everyone thinks you crazy. (me too) But the last we need is another plain old mustang. So, good for you! I think that rotory is a pretty small engine. Should be no problem size wise. Of course you will have to make your own mounts, headers, brackets for everything. The Mazdas, like RX7's are rear wheel drive., I think it would be a ton easier to use that trans. It would be a big job. All it needs is love... no, I mean money....well maybe both.
I am in total agreement with Gofastmercury on this one. Crazy, but pretty cool if it works. Would definately get a huge crowd at a car show. Btw, love the line about love and money.
Hehe, I think your right about people thinking im crazy, cause Dark Knight sure didn't like the idea. Anyway im gonna go for it... it's my first car to restore and hopefully the only car i'll restore, but I might as well go all out right?:p
Well to anyone else out there that has any info that would help me out good or bad, please let me know cause im gonna need all the help I can get.....thanks |
