20b rotary in a 67 hardtop
 

This summer I want to put a 20b rotary engine with twin sequintial turbos inside my 67' Mustang hardtop. I know most of you will probably disagree with this idea, but of course you know that this is MY car. But I do want to hear everyone's opinion toward this idea good or bad, rather you want to help me out or cut me down, it won't bother me at all......Thanks

Sounds cool to me. Good luck changing the spark plugs once you get it in. Do you deal a lot with those wacky wankels?

Actually it was my cousins idea to put in a rotary engine.

Heh, coincidentally, the place where I found my Mach1 was a Mazda shop in Denver called Rotary Specialists. Those engines are pretty sweet for top end.

well my first thought is hey you can cut the rake by sectioning the whole car ,lose like .5 - 1 foot and that would justify the rotory motor and the wind resistence would drop to minor stuff

in english cut off all the extra space needed by the v8 and drop the car a foot lose 300 lbs but the doors and glass would be a problem but hey over all a rotory motor and the body to go with it.

Why would I need to change the doors and glass? Also, what do you mean by cut off all the extra space.... shouldn't I use the space for a big intercooler, big turbos, etc..?

yes i wouldnt chop it but it would be cool.

work with what you have use the space and have fun.

i think another cool project would be to drop a v8 in the back seat and see how that effects weight and handeling after sectioning the car.

on a plus side you do know Mazda is owned by Ford right.

i dont know about the 20b but i have a friend who keeps dreaming of a 8 cylender rotory engine.

Well a little info on the 20B, it's a three-rotor rotary engine 20B-REW, while the two-rotor rotary engine produced a smooth operation equivalent to the six-cylinder reciprocating engine, the three-rotor rotary engine exceeded that of the V8 engine; it even approached the level of the V12 engine.

And no I didn't know Mazda was owned by Ford...

The only hard part that I see is getting the 20B! Those things are expensive! try pettitracing.com. Look into the Banzai motor. 500+ hp twin turbo 20B.

I got rid of my old 84 RX7 to get my Stang. Never regretted it yet, but I did like that mini rocket quite a bit.

ford actually did a prototype mustang with a rotory engine in it in 1965. so you are not too far out there swap wise.
