Why is my car so slow?

I'm running a 351W with a 9" K&N cone, 80mm MAF, 70mm tb, GT40 lower, Cobra upper, stock 5.0 heads, long tube Hedmans (1-5/8), no cats, 2.5" H-pipe, Dynomax race bullets, & 4" tips, 2.73s, 190lph pump, 30lb injectors, I bought the car with most of this stuff done to it allready, it has some kind of cam but I don't know what it is, my car idles @ 1000rpm, & I don't see a chip plugged into the computer so I'm still running the stock computer with the 5.8L. My best run was 14.665 @ 95.9 mph, my reaction time was .523. I hear of all these guys running almost stock Mustangs & they're getting low 14s. With all these mods, my car is damn slow. I know that if I get heads & gears, my car will just fly. I found a set of BBC heads bare for $1200 canadian. I'm not too familiar with BBC, can anyone give me some advice on these heads. If I get heads & 3.73s, what kind of numbers could I expect in the 1/4.

thanks

Get ride of those gears! When I went from the 273s to 355s I cut 3/4 of a second off my time.

Well there is more than one problem with your car. Everything is completely mismiatched.

Do you know what kind of 351w you have? Is it a roller block? What compression ratio, it could be an older low compression 351. The stock heads are killing you on that big a motor. 4" Tips are unncessary, and the 2.73's are crap. The 30lb injectors are wayy to big and making your car go very rich I'm sure. Probalby the biggest source of your low power. Not to mention if the cam you have doesn't match your stock heads. Also what is your timing at?

Go with a set of TW heads, fine out about your short block and cam. Do your research before you mod your car, as the person that had it before you didn't.

Good luck...

Man it has to be more than just the gears I have 2.73 and get 96-99 MPH with about the same ET.

I think Pep Boys sells Mr. Gasket adapter plates to use those BBC heads though.... http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

Not only do you have a lot of the wrong parts, your car is probably horribly out of tune. You should have someone that really knows Mustangs look at it.

Problem is, every idiot will tell you they know the best way to tune it......hhhmmmmm. I would say pick the brain of someone going fast in a Mustang at the track. Most people are really helpful.
