Urgent! Changing Fuel Pump

Hello. Please help. Right now I'm changing my fuel pump. I have the gas tank lowered and I'm in the process of removing the fuel lines. I'm having a hard time getting the fuel lines removed. Is there any way I can do it w/o any special tools. Do I need a special tool to remove them. The Chilton book says I need a duck clip removal tool??? Please help ASAP. Thank you.

Well, special tools really help. However, I changed my first pump without 'em.

I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I removed the clips with a set of needlenose and a couple of screwdrivers.

Just take it easy, slow, and don't break anything. :)

Sorry this doesn't help much, but I know it can be done.

My fuel pump came with new clips so i just broke the old ones and put new ones in.

Just press in the clips with a couple of small screw drivers and pull the lines off.

It's all done. Thanks for your help. I was thinking of using a small screwdriver but I was afraid to break the clips. I ended buying a universal one at an autoparts store. $25!! . . .and I probably never use it again. Oh well. Thanks again for the replies.

You got the tool? You might be surprised about using it again if you keep that mustang a while. Also, when one of your buddies runs up against the same problem, you can nonchalantly say, "Oh yeah, I've got that tool" and whoop it out. Hey, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that you can never have too many tools.
