How Far Can GT-40 Heads Go

I recently acquired a 90LX 5.0 5spd, and i was wondering about doing a head swap off a 93-97 explorer (correct me if im wrong) to get the Original Iron GT-40 heads. I know that they need to be milled a bit (to about 10:1), and if i were to port them and then put a ported Cobra intake on with a 70mm TB, BBK fenderwell Cold Air, 75mm MAF and a B-303 cam or another similar one from Anderson, what kinda times could i expect? The only things i have done to the car already is put a Pro 5.0 Shifter, subrame connectors, Lakewood adjustable upper and lowers, rear seat delete and Cowl Hood. How far could this combination be pushed if i put some ET Streets and practice my driving a lot? Thanks for any help you guys can give

PS Tublar Front K-Member is on its way also with lakewood Struts and Coilovers

GT-40 heads with port work etc... are good for 10's easily. I know several people running 11's N/A with untouched GT-40 heads.

I wouldnt put GT-40's on a 393 though. They would definitely be a bottle neck. If I was building a big cube stroker like that I would go all out and get AFR 185's at least.

Dark 5.0-

The people that are running in the 11's w/untouched GT-40's, what else do they have done to there motors/suspension, my goal is mid 11's N/A while retaining Smog certification, so there cars sound like what i would be aiming for

Steven

Thanks for the info

It would be very hard to stay streetable and run 11's with GT-40 heads.

The guys I know are running the stock short block with GT-40 heads, a custom cam and and the holley systemax intake.

These cars have no smog pump, A/c or power steering. You have to have a killer suspension set up and cut a 1.4-1.5 60ft in order to break into the 11's with the GT-40's

I highly doubt you could have a streetable 302 with GT-40 heads and smog legal and still run 11's.

What do you think the car would run with the setup i talked about with a streetable cam?

I would guess a mid- high 12 on slicks

I run gt-40's off an 97 explorer, non p head, with the e-cam and explorer intake. the car is running strong, better now i got the idle worked out, my heads have some hefty machine work in them, except they were only milled .10, maybe 9.1 compression, and have stock springs, but they flow, just begging for a blower:D
btw, i have no new e.t.s yet with the ported explorer intake yet.
