How Much can it take
Hello,
Im building a 390 FE motor thats already been bored 60 over and i am looking a putting a 6-71 blower on it, dose anyone know how much power one of these blocks can take without grenading itself, im planning on putting 4 bolt, studded mains with an all forged rotating assembly, im just concerned about the webbing in the bottum end. Any info helpfull Steven |
as i recall the FE motor is good for about 600hp. you will not find any 4 bolt main FE's though, except the 427 side oiler which used crossbolted mains. you may be able to find the crossbolt caps and install them on your FE block though. dontact dove manufacturing about that.

Look into getting one of those main cap girdles. It ties all the mains together for a real strong bottom end. Trick Flow makes them along with some other companies. You might have a problem finding them for an FE block though. I know they make them for small blocks, Clevelands and 429/460's. Not sure about the FE's. Also I dont know how you intend to use the engine. But if it's a track only, look into water jacket filler to further stiffen up the bottom end.
