shifter vibration

my shifter vibrates out of gear or in any gear.
it get's worse with the higher rpm too.
I can't go past 75mph because I'm afraid that the
tranny is going to drop. I took it out of gear and let it
coast and it's still vibrating pretty bad.
right now I'm preparing for the worse ,from the balancer
right down to the u-joint.
I'm gonna start with the transmission mount then
have the drive shaft balanced then the balancer then
the flywheel.
any other suggestion(s) would be greatly appreciated.

check your shifter bolts, check your bellhousing bolts.
replace your u-joints, if it's not it, your only out 25$ or so.
then look at your balancer while the motor is running, make sure it isnt wobbling.
oh yea, if it does it while the car is Not moving, it is your balancer im willing to bet.

Have your tires balanced also. There are so many things that could cause a vibration in your stick. I'd say between what you and Coupe50h have suggested, you've got a good place to start.

I had the same problem at one point, she would vibrate at excessive speeds, in or out of gear. Beleive it or not, my clutch was at fault. I swore that my tranny was going to go flying too. My clutch eneded up being extremley worn even though she caught low to the floor. As soon as I replaced it, everything went away and she was back to normal. I assume you have a stick because you metioned a flywheel instead of a flex plate. I hope this helps a little.
Good Luck,
Christina

well I've checked the motor mount , crank pulley, and the trans mount they all looked fine, and everything seems to be tight.
The clutch was new when i bought it 30k's ago and I've had the
flywheel resurfaced (i've had the tranny replaced also) I think I'm gonna get an aluminum driveshaft and have the u-joint replaced. and if it still vibrates I'll get a new clutch and new flywheel.

what kinda of aluminum driveshaft are you gona get? I think they all come with the u-joints already installed and you just bolt it up. That is the way my FMS aluminum driveshaft came.

wow 2 birds with one stone.
I'm not too picky about it I'll take whatever my local
mustang shop have.
