Should I add a cold air system to the C&l meter?

I have the 80mm C&l kit in my 99 GT and I was wondering if it would be worth it to put in a true cold air system rather then rely on that crappy little heat shield they give you. I dont think that shield does very much. My car seems to lose its edge after it warms up all they way, is that normal? Thanks!!:D

C&L says not too.

Reason the C&L wolnt work with a true cold air is because the bend from the CA pipe disturbs the airflow and does not get properly read by the meter. The C&L re-uses your existing meter, and if you look into the mass air, you can see how the factory meter isnt perfectly mated with the pickup tube of the housing. I am switching to a Pro-M , or a lightning myself.

For the 94-98 gt's wouldnt a 90mm lighting mass air be too much, I'm just askin cause I know a bigger TB on a stock engine is overkill in most if not all cases, thanks

Definitely. You can lose power with too big a mass air, and or throttle body. Me, Im getting new SHM P&P heads, and custom grind cams. So it wouldnt be too big for my setup.

I just had to pull my CAI kit off because of crappy air flow with the stock MAF :( I guess it's not really a bug deal, you don't notice any power increase with one anyways.
