Clutch wont hold no more? question..
I have a kk clutch and pp, last night at the track i went 13.0@ 105 with a slipping clutch, i was launching at 5k, wich im sure hurt this clutch, i hot lapped it and went 13.0 104, then 13.3 103, my 60's were not good as i had in the past, best i did was 1.86 then they got worse.
I could tell something was wrong, well today i get in my car and drive down the street, in 4th gear at a low speed, i can push the gas, and the rpms will jump around? Now my question is, i have an old motorsport disc laying around, it still has lots of life left on it, i took it out for my t-5 rebuild with low miles, but could i just throw that in, and of course resurface the flywheel first? or will the pp have a different wear pattern, and chatter? because I would rather keep the kk pp if ya know what i mean, the hd motorsports are hard to push in. I dont have the cash for a df setup right now.....whaddaya think guys? thanx. |
You're gonna need to clean up the surface of the pp too, provided it isn't burned, but it should work.
That's an awful lot to do, though, and not just replace the pp too. ;) Take care, ~Chris |
I think I would try to find the cash somehow, and replace it with a new clutch/pp while you have it apart. Its an awful lot of work to to for a used part. But if cash is an issue, I understand the need to get it back on the road.

let me feel it :D

Hey tmaster, did you get my pm?
Thanx guys, i understand, and the way my luck has been lately, the tob will go out as soon as i start it back up, i guess i will inspect the pp closely, but somehow i need to raise the cash for a mcleoud df kit, alot of people say the motorsport clutches hold up on modded h/c/i stangs, well yea they will, for a short time:rolleyes: It's holding me back from seeing 12's at 106 i know it:) |
yes I got it! ill give you a pm in a few days
|
instead of the mcleod, a very good clutch by the way, use the centerforce dual friction clutch. it has lower pedal pressure and better clamping force, and was designed just for the type of driving you do.
|
you dont need that stuff..i ran mid 11;s w/ 1.5 60 fts on a HD motorsport clutch..holds up great:D

ps, i heard complaints on the cf df, altough i dont believe everything i hear. |
i recently went with a centerforce df clutch ....no complaints here ,love it ........
the 87 had a ram heavy duty in it before,it functioned ok,didn't slip and lasted for over40,000 miles .......but in traffic it was a killer ...stiff pedal ,kinda grabby ,harder to control the centerforce is alot nicer ,way smoother and easier to operate and alot easier on the leg in traffic ........it's only been in the car for like 5,000 miles ....but so far it seems like a good investment (my left leg is almost back to normal) if you do alot of daily driving it might be worth it to upgade ,......if you can't get the cash together then keep it in mind for down the road |
you might be talking about the the ram hd, i can see that being hard on a leg, my old hd motorsport was, i like the kingcobra pp since it's easy on the leg, but the disc is not holding anymore, but i have an update, i think some water from my bag of ice could have got on the disc, and i may have burned it up that day?
