When I do my intakes I put a washer under each bolt head and torque to anywhere between 30-50 pounds. It works best if you go from the middle of the intake outwards going across the intake. Honestly, I usually just get a 3/8 drive ratchet and tighten them as tight as I can with that length of handle without trying too hard, ya know? After you run your engine a few times, retorque them when it's cooled off. Do that maybe 4 or 5 times because the intake works itself loose for some reason. Hey, I'd like to see pictures of your engine. Sounds a lot like my combo. Except for the hot pink ;-) What kind of fuel pump are you running? Are you using the serpentine belt setup like on the late models? What did you do for an oil dipstick? did you just get the motorsport oilpan kit? I had to take the dipstick hole off of my old pan and cut holes in my new one and bolt it on cause my block is a '76 which does not have the dipstick hole. Anyway, good luck with that. Let us know how it turns out.

quantum- i am using the serpentine belt setup, i have a bbk 190 lph fuel pump. However i do not have a dipstick. instead i have two breathers :) i have a 7 quart milodon oil pan because there used to be a blower on it (there will be one on it again eventually). This motor is really frustrating me because i have been waiting for two weeks for my piston to come back from the shop because it needed to be balanced. i went to put the water pump on and i cant find two bolts and the thermostat housing bolts are also missing... not to mention the kid that was helping me also disappeared with my starter :( but i am determined to have it finished by next weekend...

Cool, I know what you mean about missing bolts. I have a box that is full of bolts that I should have labeled. I know I have everything, it's just that I can't figure out where they all go. Anyway, do you have any pics of your setup?

I know, say bye bye to the threads if they are going into aluminum heads:rolleyes: even a carbed intake shouldnt be over 25, 30 ft at the most, just my opinion though, i have no hard facts.

Same here. I'm ready to reassemble, but didn't label bolts. Plus, instead of cleaning the old ones, I'd rather get new ones but not bolt by bolt. Does anyone sell an all inclusive accessory bolt kit?
